Do you know what a Carbon Credit is? Well, carbon dioxide is the principle greenhouse gas that is being emitted and according to the Kyoto Protocol (an agreement between nations that sets binding targets for 37 industrial countries and the European community for reducing greenhouse emissions); every country of the world is tracking these emitted units of carbon. Every country has a total amount of units that are allowed per the Kyoto Protocol. When a country is not using every unit, it can trade them as a commodity to another country. This is known as the carbon market.

Is your water bottle or baby bottle safe? Canada recently said it will ban the import and sale of plastic polycarbonate baby bottles made with bisphenol A (BPA). Nalgene (a division of Thermo Fisher Scientific, Inc.) brand plastic water bottles made with BPA will be pulled from store shelves and the company will start producing BPA free alternatives. BPA is a chemical that has been associated with early puberty and may affect hormones. A “Today Show” report recently identified plastic bottles with numbers 3, 6 and 7 as potentially unsafe and those with the number 1 as safe. Stay informed. Look for the number in a small triangle on the bottom of every plastic bottle.
