Best Diet in the Universe: Day 6 – You Are A Lean, Green Calorie Burning Machine! Graehm Gray

Hello my fans. Welcome to Day 6 of the Best Diet in the Universe. Day 5 was certainly a leaner day with less food available but with continued exercise. Your body is learning to adjust to the lower amounts of calories. You are getting into the fat burning stages of this diet plan which will result in weight loss. That’s a good thing!

We will follow Day 5 with a detox* day. This will help lower your body fat and get your metabolism to gear up to a steady state of fat and calorie burning.

Let’s begin:

Breakfast: start with a mixture of 2 ounces of “POM”-brand name blueberry/pomegranate juice and 2 ounces of water, followed by 2 scrambled eggs, 2 slices of tomato (1/4 inch thick), 1/2 of a grapefruit sprinkled with cinnamon, coffee/tea, 1 glass of water with lemon (6oz). Calorie goal: 200.

Mid morning snack: 3 handfuls of a combination of roasted unsalted almonds and dried cherries; coffee/tea, one glass water (6 ounce) with lemon. Calorie goal: 50-100.

Lunch: Start with a large salad with either iceberg or Romaine lettuce; add tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, onions, carrots, fresh or frozen broccoli, and a small piece (2 inches thick, by 2 inches wide by 5 inches long) of grilled salmon* (the salmon is grilled with garlic, lemon and olive oil). Dip and taste salad dressing of your choice. Coffee/tea, with 2 glasses of water (both 6 ounce) with lemon. Calorie goal: 200-250.

Alternatives to grilled salmon: grilled ground beef sirloin hamburger (see recipe to follow), tofu, mushroom, ostrich or chicken burger.

Mid afternoon snack: 1/2 grapefruit with sprinkle of cinnamon, coffee/tea, one glass of water with lemon. Calorie goal: 50-75.

Dinner: We will continue with our light theme: start with a cup or small bowl of chicken soup (low sodium preferable) with pieces of chicken – (no pasta-no noodles, no potatoes!!); include veggies like carrots and celery. Main course today will be petite filet mignon (that means only the size of your clenched fist), broil or grill using garlic and olive oil . Grilled to your preference. Add a vegetable like grilled zucchini (grilled with garlic and lemon and olive oil); dinner salad with iceberg lettuce, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, peppers, and dip and eat salad dressing of your choice(remember nothing sweet). Conclude with decaf green tea, and 1-2 glasses (6 oz.) of water with lemon. Calorie goal: 300-350.

Alternatives to the petite filet mignon: salmon, tofu, chicken breast, portabella mushroom. Grilled, broiled, baked or poached. Not fried.

Dessert: after thirty minutes: one handful of roasted walnuts (place one or two handfuls of walnuts on a baking pan, sprinkle/spray with a light olive oil coating, sprinkle with cinnamon and bake for 10-15minutes), decaf green tea, and one glass of water with lemon. Calorie goal: 75.

Late snack: late snack: one apple, one glass (6 ounce) of water with lemon, handful of roasted and unsalted almonds. Calorie goal:50.

Exercise of the day:
Start with 10-20 pushups, add 10-20 sit-ups, 100 jumping jacks, 10-20 minutes of air boxing and 10,000 steps(can use a treadmill). Total exercise time: minimum of 30 minutes. Alternatives to this routine can be walking, jogging, tennis, or any activity at moderate intensity for 30 minutes. Calorie burn goal: 200 calories.

There you have it-day number six!!! We have been going light for the last two meals-and this will help your body adjust to smaller quantities and healthier content.

FAQ: 1. I am still starving-what do I do? Good question. It’s okay to still be hungry. You are still coming down on your total calories and your body is going through a deprivation period. The good news is that you will get over it. The bad news is that sometimes it’s not easy to hold back. If you are hungry-go for the veggies-have sliced celery sticks with peanut butter or dip and taste dressing. A bunch of carrots or even a small salad with a dip and eat dressing. Always add some nuts (either walnuts, cashews or almonds), and always have a fluid-like decaf coffee/decaf green tea and add a 6 ounce glass of water with lemon. The lemon helps the fat burning.

2. Why use cinnamon?: good question-cinnamon helps decrease the appetite, cut down on the glycemic responses (great for diabetics), and aids fat burning-and tastes great!!!(Like on walnuts).

3. *What do you mean when you say “detox”? Good question. Detox generally refers to the process of cleansing the body of many of the food elements like preservatives, bad fats and food colorings. The detox process may require limited foods and the use of water and juices.

So there it is–you have reached day number six-your body is starting to lose the internal and external fat and you are changing your diet for a healthy alternative.
